Like my new hat…..?

So most people now know that I am currently working this summer at the Christian Bookstore and I am loving every second of it. I just love the atmosphere and I have loved meeting and working with all the wonderful people there. Tonight I closed with a wonderful lady, Hope, and I just really enjoyed getting a chance to talk with Hope more and we just had an absolute blast closing up the store tonight. As we were closing up, her and I decided to buy these cute hats at the store and took a picture together. I thought it turned out cute. So next time you see Hope working behind the counter at the bookstore, be sure to let her know how much you like her new hat!

Heading Home!

Well we are just about to head out for our 12 hr trip home and I am just so excited to share with everyone all the wonderful things about this trip. There isn’t a whole lot of time now so I’ll have to share it later but I will leave you with this wonderful picture of my ankle. Don’t know if any of you have ever stepped into a fire ant hill before but just in case you were wondering this is what it looks like after you have been bitten. Its kind of hard to see it on here but my ankle is swollen, so its more like a cankle, and it has this wonderful blister forming from the venom they bite with and it has settled in my joint a little and just made it plum sore. I am definitely not the only one who has experienced this on this trip but I thought this picture would make for an interesting blog. I’ll be writing more when we return home to fill everyone in on the wonderful details of the trip. See ya soon!

Great Birthday!

Today was great in so many ways. We started out our morning restoring and cleaning up a park for kids. Then we had a delicious lunch and then headed back to the community center this afternoon to play and minister to kids. Then we came back, got ready for supper, and hung out and ate pizza with local students from surrounding areas who came to hang out and worship with us. Our worship service was simply amazing and God definitely moved. Them Tiffany, Torrey, Tanya, Stephanie, Phillip, and many others surprised me with a little birthday celebration. They had cake and song for me after the worship service. So overall, it was a fabulous birthday and I couldn’t ask for it to be any better. Oh yeah and on top of all of this my beautiful niece and adorable nephew left me a sweet little birthday message, as well as my sister, Angie, and my dear friend Becca. It was just wonderful to hear from everyone. I look forward to what tomorrow holds for us and I’m definitely pumped about this week. Thanks again for all the prayers and thanks for all the wonderful birthday wishes!

Mission moving forward!

So yesterday we started on our journey to minister, serve, and work throughout Moss Point and we definitely hit some road blocks. We worked most of the morning cleaning up parks and then were prepared to go back to the community center to work with kids and minister to them with puppets, etc for the rest of the day. However, when we arrived we were told we were not allowed to go in. We were so discouraged and frustrated. None the less, we came back for the day, showered, had dinner, worshipped, and prayed for Satan to not have his way in frustrating us and distracting us but that God would prevail and open doors. Well after worship, we received news that today we would be spending the entire day ministering to kids…GOD IS GOOD! SO today was amazing. We worked at the center all day long with kids. We had two puppet performances, did arts and crafts, played sports, etc and just spent time building relationships and sharing the gospel with kids. I mean these kids are awesome. By the first hour, I already had kids fighting over my lap. These kids are just so loving, warm, and just need some affection. They were so excited to have our students all day long and our team did an amazing job just jumping in and serving. Then tonight we came back for some awesome home cooking and an amazing worship service that God definitely moved and challenged us in. So with all that said, today was a busy but great day and tomorrow we will start out the morning renovating another park and then spend the rest of the day back with the kids doing puppets and playing around. I’m pumped but tired. Please continue to keep us all in your prayers and just keep praying that through the songs and words we share, these students will begin to have a foundation for a relationship with Christ. Thanks for the prayers. They really mean a lot. We’ll keep you posted as more things happen throughout the week!

WE ARE HERE!!!

Well we are finally here in Mississippi. We left this morning around 9:00 am and after a 12 hour drive we finally arrived at our hotel. It was overall a great trip. We saw some funny things along the way such as this very giant peach who some people commented and laughed that it looked like a rear. I’ll let you decide that for yourself. Anyways traveling went fairly smooth. The only hiccup we had along the way was a storm that was brewing that we drove right through. As you can see in the picture the clouds were terribly dark and there was 60 mile an hour winds and hail but thankfully we didn’t have any of the hail just terrible rain that made things hard to see and really slowed us down. We are now all in our rooms, somewhat settled, and are pumped about what tomorrow holds. We will be working with some local missionaries who God called about a year and a half ago to sell all their belongings and move here and work as missionaries. They live in a motor home in a church parking lot and just live to serve the Lord in any way possible. We will be teaming up with them tomorrow to do all sort of things: clean up, repairs, working with children and students. etc. We are super excited but are all terribly worn out and need a good night sleep to be ready for an early start so please be keeping us all in your prayers. Please be praying for the mission work here that we will do and pray that this will affect the students we brought and us as leaders as we serve that we will be challenged as well in our walk with the Lord as we serve Him. I’ll keep you update as the week goes along. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Thanks for the prayers for this week!

Red Lobster

So tomorrow night Phillip is going to take me to one of my favorite restaurants for our Anniversary and as you can tell from the title of this post, that would be Red Lobster. I am so excited because I love crab legs and because they are so expensive I never get them except for special occasions such as this and even more so i love their cheese biscuits at Red Lobster. If you have never been to Red Lobster I highly recommend it and if my word doesn’t convince you maybe this will…..

Happy Anniversary!

Today I celebrate three wonderful years with my husband. He started out the morning celebrating with me by waking me up to join him for a lovely breakfast. He had cut up some lovely fresh fruit, made pancakes with fresh blueberries, made some bacon, coffee, and even had candles set out on the table. It was very sweet and I loved it all! Now we are just going to enjoy spending the day together until we go to First Assemble tonight where he will be speaking. I love Phillip very much and I’m just so excited and looking forward to the many years ahead of us. I really do think I have the world’s greatest husband who is sweet, loving, kind, sensitive, romantic, selfless, giving, a leader, protector, genuine, and amazing in every way. I am definitely the luckiest girl and I just don’t feel worthy of him most of the time but I sure am thankful God blessed me with a husband to serve along side in ministry that I can truly say I am more in love with today than the day I married him. I LOVE YOU BABY! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

Too Much….

I have been going to back to the gym for the summer because they made an offer for the teachers to have a free summer membership. I have really enjoyed it and I feel much better about myself when I work out. Monday, I decided to go and try one of the classes they offer with Tiffany and I loved it. I was pretty tired afterwards but being able to follow someone kept me motivated to work harder the whole hour. Anyways, I thought all was good until I woke up this morning and I started to get out of bed and my calf muscles felt as if I hadn’t worked out in years. Every time I have sat down today, I stiffen up again and I can barely walk. Phillip said I looked like I was beat up! So yeah, needless to say I didn’t work out today because I believe I over did it but maybe I’ll be up to it for tomorrow. Exercise is great but not too much at one time……
